The Way We are Valued by the Society

Our society is driven by competition and fueled by consumption. Money, which is the pure
abstraction of exchange value, tends to be the standard of judgment. Everything is measured by
its monetary value, and its relative value is mistaken us absolute. We often esteem ourselves for
our “net worth” and judge others for their “shelf life.” A market place becomes a metaphor for
society and we the commodities are for sale.
