Extreme Makeover (Home Edition), Why Don’t We Have More of this kind of TV Show?

06/20/05

I do not really watch TV much nowadays. Besides CNN, this show is the only show that I watch when I have a chance.

The show is like 5 super heroes who go out and make the world a better place. The four team members, plus the team leader-Ty rescue those unfortunate people who are not only poor but also have a dysfunction family that need an extreme makeover.

I think this show is very creative and effective. It plays with audiences’ emotions and hooks them with a sense of pleasure at the end. Even though we know that it will be happy ending, we still want to see how those people are rescued and how happy they will be. It makes us feel really good.

I believe some shows make the audiences like me cry. Some shows were so sad that even those five people in the team crying in front of the camera.

Whenever I watch this show, it makes me feel like my problems are so small. There are tons of people who have more serious problems than me.

We always take things for granted and never really appreciate what we have. We always complain about how small of our room is, how boring of our work, how bad of our old TV and stereo. This show makes us feel abundant. Some people do not even have a job, a room or TV.

The pictures of those people who jump up and down just to have a new TV set are amazing.

I just wonder why don’t the producers create more shows like Extreme Makeover? For example, we should have Extreme Makeover Orphans, Extreme Makeover Homeless People, Extreme Makeover Senior People or Extreme Makeover Poor Student.

It is a win-win game that the audiences will be full of uplifting feeling, people in the show are rescued from the misfortunes and the advertisers like Sears effectively insert themselves in the show. It creates good images among audiences.

I would buy anything in that show just to promote the show.

We need more of this creative and constructive show.
