My visit to Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee's Graveyard
05/26/05
It is a real tragedy, someone call
it a curse. It’s like JFK and JFK Junior. Father and son are resting
side by side in the graveyard. Both of them died young.
I had a chance to visit Bruce and Brandon Lee’s tombstone when I was
in Seattle. Mark and his friend, Truc gave me a tour to the place that these
two legendaries resting their life forever. It was such a beautiful and quiet
cemetery. I find a cemetery is a good place to sit down and think about life.
To think about what we have done and what we have not done in my life, what
is the purpose of my life, what kinds of life I want to live and to remind
me that one day I will leave this world as well. It reminds me that my youth
does not guarantee that I will have longer time to live than those elderly.
Everything is so uncertain.
Their graves were decorated with all flowers by people who still loved them.
On Brandon Lee’s tombstone, there was a very beautiful inscription.
I was deeply touched by the delicate thoughts in that inscription.
It was so peaceful. I took a deep breathe and realized that I was still alive.
I asked myself how many more times would I let myself not appreciate my life?
How many more times would I have a chance to sing a song while I was walking
on the street with friends? How many more times would I see the blue sky and
the turquoise sea? How many more times would I talk and see someone I love?
I do not have an answer but no matter how many more times I have, I will make
the best out of it.
I prayed for their soul to have an eternal happiness in some places far from
suffering.
Inscription on Brandon Lee's grave stone
"Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an
inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens a certain number of times, and
a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain
afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your
being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or
five times more. Perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch
the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless."
