8 Reasons Why Gore should not Run
10/10/07
As many speculated, the former vice president Al Gore is awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. His supporters, delighted by that news, are now encouraging him, once again, to run for the President.
As much as I love his work, I do not think he should get into the Presidential race, and these are my 8 reasons.
- It is honorable to be awarded with the Nobel Prize but I do not think the average Joe and Jane will care about it that much.
- Hillary has not stumbled yet; instead her momentum is getting stronger every day. Gore will not be able to catch up with her.
- It’s too late for Gore to jump into the race given Hillary’s strong campaign and bunch of money.
- He will be in a very weak position to stand on what he advocates like environmental issue or even the Iraq war because he will have to compromise a lot of his positions in order to win the White House or risking alienating voters.
- His current star power and celebrity status enable him to influence people but if he lost his run against Hillary, his influence would totally be diminished.
- If people think Hillary has tons of baggage and is loathed by the rights, Gore is not that much different than Hillary. People from the right are going after him everyday about his global warming position.
- The Democrats are now either supporting Obama or Clinton, I do not think there is much room left for Gore.
- He should let people remember him as an ultimate champion of the Global Warming issue than being a loser (again).
