10 Reasons Burma is still in the Mess

09/26/07

The gentler Bush urged the world leaders to put more pressure on the Burmese government during his speech to the UN General Assembly in New York City.

The pictures of the streets of Burma covered by the orange robes of the monks who are peacefully protesting the brutal government thrills me. This country has been suppressed by its military generals for decades. Although sanctioned by international community, the situation seems not to get better but worse.

So I come up with 9 reasons why, for decades, Burma is still in trouble.

  1. Burma has no oil.
  2. Burmese are not Christian
  3. Burma is not in Europe.
  4. Burmese are not whites.
  5. Burmese kids are not as popular as African kids to be adopted by celebrities
  6. Burmese are no Jews.
  7. Burmese’s struggle is out of media radar.
  8. Burmese are not killing each other because of religion.
  9. Burmese’s neighbors are cowards.
  10. Burmese’s biggest trader, China, has become one of the greediest enterprises

The latest struggle led by the monks is being cracked down. Let’s be a small part of this movement by signing this petition and allow the UN Security Council to know that we, as a world citizen, oppose any violent acts towards these peaceful demonstrators!
